Course Objectives At the end of this course; the students are expected to explain important childhood and reproductive health problems and explain health services to control them, explain the social, economical, and health risks and health problems of disadvantaged groups, explain how the health services should be given during disasters and discuss ethical aspects of reproductive health services, child patient, elderly patient and mental health problems.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • 1. Explain important childhood health problems in Turkey.
  • 2. Explain health services for children and their quality provided by Ministry of Health, discuss policy recommendations to improve them.
  • 3. Define concepts of reproductive health and reproductive rights.
  • 4. Explain reproductive health level in Turkey
  • 5. Explain reproductive health services and their quality provided by Ministry of Health, discuss policy recommendations to improve them.
  • 6. Explain demographic transition theory and population policy in Turkey.
  • 7. Discuss the ethical aspects of reproductive health services.
  • 8. Discuss the ethical aspects in health services for child patient.
  • 9. Explain how health services should be planned in disasters.
  • 10. Discuss ethical aspects in health services for elderly patient.
  • 11. Discuss ethical aspects of mental health problems.
  • 12. Explain social, economical, and health risks and health problems of disadvantaged and recommend measures for prevention.
  • 13. Explain the values and responsibilities of medical profession.
Course Description This course includes prevention of childhood health problems, reproductive health problems, disadvantaged groups’ problems, health services during disasters and the ethical aspects of reproductive health services, child patient, elderly patient and mental health problems.
